Small groups aren't a marketing angle. Here's what actually breaks when a cohort gets too big.

Why cohort size matters
At 40 students, one mentor can still remember where each person is stuck, review their code personally, and follow up when someone goes quiet. Push past that number and mentorship quietly turns into a lecture series — technically still "1-on-1 available," but in practice nobody gets enough time. We'd rather run more small cohorts than one big one.
What mentors actually watch for
The signal we track most closely isn't quiz scores — it's whether a student is still asking questions in week three. Mentors flag anyone who goes quiet for more than a few days and check in directly. That kind of attention only scales down to a point, which is exactly why we keep our cohorts small rather than growing them to fit demand.
What this means if you're applying
Because we cap enrollment, cohorts sometimes fill up before the official start date. If a track you want is close to full, we'll either open a waitlist for the next batch or, if there's enough interest, start a second cohort in parallel. Either way, you'll always know your actual student-to-mentor ratio before you commit — we don't hide that number.
